There are many advantages to new kegs; you know their condition and can decide yourself how carefully they should be treated, but be aware that you should NOT unscrew the couplings when cleaning! Use chemicals and/or steam.

It's stainless steel and if there's too much resistance, the thread can strip. It's not covered by any form of guarantee if you unscrew the couplings!

On older kegs, you will be able to unscrew couplings more easily, as ageing reduces the risk of tears.
